“Why I Paint and Write: Art as a Mirror of the Soul”

“Art That Speaks, Poetry That Paints”
A journal of emotions, reflection, and creation by Ekaterina Nova

There are moments when a painting begins not with color, but with a feeling.
And sometimes, a poem begins not with words, but with silence.

My name is Ekaterina, and I am both a painter and a poet. I don’t separate the two — they are part of the same heartbeat. My brush and my pen speak in different languages, but they always speak to the same thing: the soul, the unseen, the forgotten emotions we carry quietly.

Art, for me, is not decoration. It is reflection.

A reflection of something inner, something fragile, something real.

I believe that each painting holds more than texture and light — it holds a question, a story, sometimes even a whisper.

Poetry enters when the visual is not enough. When the storm in the sky needs a voice. When the ocean’s depth is also the depth of someone’s search for meaning.

That’s where my poetry lives — in those quiet places between color and memory.

I write and paint to connect. To create something that someone will look at and say,

“Yes. I feel that too.”

In a world that often moves too fast, art and poetry allow us to slow down, to feel, to breathe. I want my work to be a mirror.

Not of me — but of you.

Of the one who stops in front of a canvas or reads a line of a poem and remembers something long buried.

This blog is a space where I will share thoughts, stories, fragments of the creative process, and the quiet connections between image and word.

If you’re here, I believe it’s for a reason.

Thank you for reading,

and welcome to this journey.
